Assam HS Scooty Scheme 2022 - Eligibility, Merit List, Apply Online

The Assam government has introduced the 'Pragyan Bharti' scheme to provide scooters to female students who pass the higher secondary (HS) exam with first division marks. The scheme aims to encourage girls to continue higher education and reduce the dropout rate.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that scooties would be awarded to students securing first class in the HS exam. The number of scooty awards would depend on the budget allocation for the scheme.

This provision was declared by the state Finance Minister during the 2022-23 budget session under the Pragyan Bharti program. The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the HS results on June 27, 2022. The overall pass percentage was 87.64%.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • Be a female student
  • Have passed the HS exam in first division (above 60% marks)
  • Have studied in a school located in Assam

Application Process

Eligible students can apply online by visiting the AHSEC website. The application requires details like:

Scooty Allotment Basis

Scooties will be allotted to eligible applicants based on cut-off marks considering the scheme's budget. In 2022, the student securing the highest marks in Science stream was Drithiraj Bastau Kalitha with 491/500. The Arts and Commerce section toppers scored 487/500.

Scooty Distribution

Students who are selected in the HS scooty merit list have to download the allotment letter from the AHSEC website. They can then collect the scooty documents from the designated distribution centers.

The eligible candidates get several additional benefits under the scheme apart from the scooty. This includes a fee waiver for higher studies, free textbooks and uniforms, etc.

Note that the selected girl students cannot sell the awarded scooty for minimum 3 years from allotment.
